Georgetown’s tennis program focuses on teaching kids ages 5 and up basic tennis skills while preserving the fun that goes along with this great sport.
This year we are also offering adult clinics!
The Club’s coaching staff is comprised of highly skilled and trained coaches who create a team environment that nurtures our players and keeps them coming back year after year. Group lessons practice two days a week and some lessons include a third day for match play.
Groups are established by age and ability. Placement is determined by the athlete’s skill in the 4 basic strokes:
Classification of groups:
Bronze: 5-8yr olds Max 8 kids
Silver: 9-11yr olds Max 8 kids
Gold: 12-17 Max 10 kids
This group is for beginners who are new to the sport or unable to control standard tennis balls. Lessons will focus on introductory skills, footwork, and technique using Red Dot tennis balls which are slightly deflated, allowing for much better control and success.
Each class will be a blend of drills and games, with each day focused on a new skill to create a foundation for tennis in a fun environment as well as foster an enjoyment of hitting around the fuzzy red ball.
Recommended Ages: 8 and under
This group is designed for children who are beyond needing basic tennis instruction but still lack the tennis skills necessary to succeed on the Gold level. The primary focus is to help juniors continue to build fundamental tennis skills in the realms of technique, court movement, and shot selection.
The group lessons will consist of competitive games and drills with individualized instruction to create a dynamic and upbeat backdrop in a group setting. Rallying and scoring will be introduced.
This is a perfect choice for kids with some experience who want to challenge themselves or older kids looking to start playing tennis.
Recommended Ages: 9 – 11
This tennis group is a terrific choice for the top-level junior classes looking to ready for competitive team play. A good measure of your child’s readiness for this group is their ability to consistently serve, rally both forehand and backhand, and know how to keep score.

This Group is great for players who want to play against other developing juniors.
