All About Aquatics Programs at GTCC!
Georgetown Country Club competes in the Washtenaw Interclub Swim Conference (WISC) which is an age-group swim and dive league with five friendly dual meets.
The season ends with a week-long Championship Meet in late July. There are currently 18 teams divided into three divisions competing in WISC.
Georgetown placed 5th at the 2025 WISC championships! This year the diving team took home 3rd place, our highest ever place!
Swim Team
Our coaching team consists of expert aquatics professionals who foster a supportive team atmosphere, encouraging our young swimmers to return each season.
Training sessions are held five days a week, with groups organized based on age and skill level. The assignment to these groups depends on the swimmer’s proficiency in the four main competitive strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly.
Each group is tailored to focus on advancing different skill sets. An indicator of a child’s readiness for our swim team is their ability to swim the length of the pool without assistance. For those who have moved past the need for basic swimming lessons but are not yet ready for the swim team, the Penguin Development Team is the recommended next step.
We acknowledge the variability of summer schedules and family vacations, which is why our Swim Team offers a flexible attendance policy. A swimmer’s practice attendance does not affect their eligibility for competitive meets, with the aim for each swimmer to participate in three races per event.
Please note: per WISC rules, swim team participation is open to Club members only. Junior memberships do qualify.
Penguin Development
Interested in swim team for your child…but not sure if they are ready to compete? Penguin Development is the perfect option! This is the perfect landing spot for children who cannot swim the full length but are ready for more than swim lessons.
Dive Team
The team practices five days a week and workout groups are established by age and ability.
We understand summer schedules vary and families take vacations. As such, the Dive Team operates on a flexible attendance policy—your penguin’s practice attendance does not dictate their participation in competitive meets.
Please note: participation is open to members only. Junior memberships qualify.
Synchro Team
Synchro is back for the 2025 season! This is a non-competitive team for boys and girls ages 8 to 17.
Our synchro team will perform in water to set music—props and costumes may accompany the performance. All swimmers must be able to complete at least two laps in the pool and tread water with ease to participate on this team.
The season will conclude with an evening showcase of the team’s artistic routine(s).

Participation Fees
Swim, dive and synchro are open to GTCC members to register for an additional fee.
Based on member feedback, we’ve reduced the fees to make participation more accessible:
- One Aquatics Sport: $150
- Add a Second or Third Aquatics Sport for just $50
Team Bathing Suits
You can place your order for a GTCC team bathing suit with Sun & Snow. While team suits are optional, they are strongly encouraged for swimmers & divers participating in meets. You’ll have the choice to either have your suit shipped or pick it up at the Jackson Road store. Sun & Snow will contact you once your order is ready. Sample sizes will be available to try on at the Meet the Coaches event on June 1st.
